RIDE: UNITED – Alfredo Gomez
A behind-the-scenes insight into the making of RIDE: UNITED – the third feature-length movie from FourOhFour Films.
In early March, we flew to Madrid, Spain, to drive 50 minutes north west out to the community of Cercedilla – the hometown of Red Bull KTM rider, Alfredo Gomez. We were there to film the Hard Enduro expert for our next movie, RIDE: UNITED, in the rocky mountains that surround the area, but were faced with a cold snap and 60 straight hours of snowfall – an occurrence that is very unusual for this time of year.
We tried to make the most of the snow, but our options for filming soon became extremely limited as riding the bike was impossible in the deep, bogging snow. Before looking at the calendar to reschedule, Amanda (West) asked about some abandoned buildings nearby which she spotted. About an hour later, we were in tow with Alfredo driving up a long, eery driveway where some local police were waiting for us. Alfredo had, somehow, pulled some strings with some law-enforcing friends of his and gained us access to an abandoned six-story mental hospital that was built in the 1920s.
The imagery and footage we were able to capture was out of this world, and it’s not every day you have police helping you set up a make-shift jump from rubble to jump a dirt bike through a window. Here’s a sneak preview – stay tuned for loads more.
