DPH Motorsport Honda Racing announces that Cheyne Boyd, 2009 runner up pro-open motocross champion, will join the team in the Lites division on the Honda CRF250R in 2012.
Cheyne who is no stranger to riding in the Lites division is enthusiastic about the season ahead. "This is a new opportunity for me and a new challenge. Last year I faced many challenges and towards the end I started feeling real comfortable on the Honda CRF250R."
DPH Motorsport Team Owner, Dale Hocking, is excited by the support Honda is providing as well as the signing of Cheyne Boyd. "Last year we had great success in the U19 division and this year we wanted to step up our program and focus on the Lites class. To have secured a rider of Cheyne's calibre is very exciting. We are already well underway with our preparations and are looking forward to the season ahead."
Honda Australia understands the value and importance of supporting private teams as well as its own factory race teams with General Manager of Honda Motorcycles, Tony Hinton, saying, "We have a strong focus on the 2012 motocross and supercross championships and wish all competitors well, specifically the Honda mounted racers who continue to show loyalty to our CRF range."
Cheyne and his team mate Boyd Hocking have been busy training, testing and preparing ahead of Round 1 of the MX Nationals. Cheyne has been focusing on his fitness in anticipation of his relaunch into the Lites division; "I have changed my training and focused on strength and muscle, I feel this will be an advantage during the season."
Round one of the Australian Motocross Championship will kick off on April 1 in Conondale, Qld.
