First look at 2012 Fantics

The Fantic range of two-strokes receive updates to suspension, graphics and protective components for 2012, with the two-stroke TZ125, 250 and 300 enduro models joined by a 250cc four-stroke and a 125 motocrosser.

The Gas Gas-powered Italian-made machines have upgraded to the closed-cartridge 48mm Marzocchi fork while a carbon fibre bashplate replaces the alloy unit. The range also gets a new rear swingarm and linkage that offers additional travel, new crankcase for improved lubrication, and an updated silencer. The models get a facelift with red becoming the prominent colour on the formerly white seat and plastics. It also receives red anodised forks, clutch and engine covers.

Fantics new TZ125 motocross model that will be available in 2012

The bikes have kept the black powder-coated Excel rims but the steering rake adjustment has gone, although it can be ordered as an extra. A 250 four-stroke will join the Fantic line-up in 2012, though Aussie specs are yet to be finalised. And a 125cc motocrosser will also be brought into Australia, but Simon Wiseman from Australian Fantic distributor, Sportswise, says, "the 125s will be available in limited quantities". Wiseman goes on to tell us the price tags will remain the same for 2012 models and should arrive in early March.
