Transmoto 12-Hour

RIDE AGAINST YOUR MATES...RIDE AGAINST THE CLOCK..JUST RIDE...

UPDATED COMPETITOR INFORMATION PACK FOR THE APRIL Transmoto 12-HOUR available now.

Event Postponed

Unfortunately due to the torrential rain that has hit southern NSW in the past few days, and the very unfriendly forecast for the rest of the week, we've postponed the event until April 21/22.

As many of you may remember from last year, access to the venue is via a river. This river also bisects the race course. The heavy rain has seen the river level rise to a point that makes access dangerous. We also have to consider the damage that can be done to the venue in very wet conditions, and the fact that with the river level high, we can only use half the track.

We hope this doesn't inconvenience everyone too much, but we truly believe this is best call for the event considering the conditions.

New format

Masterminds among you will have realised the new date is after daylight saving has finished. Without 12 hours of daylight available on the Sunday, we're revising the format.

The event will now be split into an extended prologue on Saturday afternoon and followed by the main event on Sunday. The exact details of the new format are still being determinded, but we will be issuing a new Competitor Information Pack in the near future, which will have the revised details.

About the Transmoto 12-Hour

Modeled on the very successful mountain bike 12 and 24-hour "enduro" event formula, the Transmoto 12-Hour is a team-based dirt bike race with an emphasis on:

  • The accomplishment of finishing, not necessarily winning.
  • The mateship of entering as a team.
  • Racing, but with a larrikin flavour.
  • Offering a unique riding experience that cannot be found at other rallies, trail bike tours or race events.

It's all about having a good time really. Our goal is to create a vibe unlike any event yet seen on the dirt bike calendar, and thus carve out a unique place for the Transmoto 12-Hour in the Australian dirt biker's calendar.

Who can ride?

The event is designed for riders of all levels, in fact, this is a key element of the 12-Hour. Faster riders navigating through slower riders in a safe and courteous manner is a key skill for a winning team to master.

The Location

The Transmoto 12-Hour will be held in Batemans Bay on NSW's South Coast. The area has played host to many successful dirt bike events over the years including the 2007 Australian 4-Day Enduro.

EVENT RULES

The Transmoto 12-Hour is a unique, recreational dirt biking event, hence no set of fixed race Rather a set if guidelines, based on commonsense and to courtesy to fellow riders dictate how we would like to see riders behave.

The Event and Course

The Course

The course will be a loop of approximately 10km in length. Riders can expect a course very typical of what they might find on a “trail” ride. This includes single track, fire road and grass track sections.

The Race

The event itself operates a relay race. Once riders complete their lap, or laps, they enter the transition area where they hand a “baton” over to a team member. At the transition, rider will be required to step off their bikes and walk single file through the scoring area and on to the changeover with their teammate.

Rider and Bike

Protective Equipment

All participants in the Transmoto 12-hour are required to wear full protective equipment including an Australian standards (or international equivalent) approved riding helmet, boots, goggles and gloves.

Bikes

All bikes will be scrutineered before the start of the Transmoto 12-Hour. All bikes must be in good working order, in the opinion of the event organisers, who reserves the right to decline any bike not deemed to be in safe working order.

Race Numbers will not be required on bikes.

Competitors may ride as many bikes as they like, and are free to change or share bikes with other competitors.

Riders

All riders in eth event must be considered Fit To Ride by the event organizers. Fit to ride means that you are capable of completing a lap without endangering yourself or other competitors.

Riders are strongly encouraged to use a Camelbak or similar device with an adequate supply of water and spares (spare tube, puncture kit, tyre levers etc).

Proper rider etiquette is a big part of what we are about at the Transmoto 12-Hour. We encourage good sportsmanship, care and courtesy towards other riders. We want everyone to have a good positive experience at the 12-Hour.

A key element of the event is overtaking. The course is designed to allow multiple areas around the track where faster riders can pass slower riders easily and safely. If you find yourself behind a slower rider, be respectful of their event experience, show some patience and pass at the earliest safe opportunity. If you find yourself in with a clearly faster rider behind you also show them courtesy by allowing them to overtake as soon as possible and give them plenty of room so they can do so safely.

Please note that the event organisers reserve the right to exclude/disqualified/remove any party from the event if they feel a rider or team is not conducting themselves in a manner commensurate with the event.
